Privacy Policy
1. Scope
This Privacy Policy explains how MoneyCap ("MoneyCap", "the app"), provided by Tripleace ("we", "us"), handles information. The app identifier on Android and iOS is com.tripleace.moneycontrol. It covers expense tracking, photo capture, receipt reading, currency conversion, evening reminders, rewarded ads, and MoneyCap Plus subscriptions.
2. Information stored on your device
- Expenses: amounts, currency, category, merchant or title, notes, and dates you enter or confirm.
- Photos: pictures you take with the in-app camera or pick from your library are copied into the app’s private storage and linked to an expense. The app reads the photo’s capture date from its metadata to date the expense; it does not read or store photo location.
- Receipt reading results: text recognised on receipts and the amounts, merchants and dates suggested from it.
- Preferences and counters: your currency, onboarding and reminder settings, free-capture and rewarded-ad counters, your Plus status, and cached exchange rates.
MoneyCap does not require an account. Our app code keeps your expenses, photos and receipt text on your device and does not upload them to Tripleace servers or any cloud service we operate. We have no access to your diary.
3. On-device receipt reading
Receipt text is recognised on the device. On Android, MoneyCap uses the bundled Google ML Kit Text Recognition SDK; on iOS it uses Apple’s Vision framework, with ML Kit as a fallback and for the live camera view. ML Kit processes images on the device and does not send the input images or recognised text to Google. See ML Kit Terms & Privacy.
Google documents that ML Kit collects technical information for diagnostics and usage analytics, such as device model and operating system, app package and version, installation identifiers, performance measurements, API configuration and error codes. This telemetry does not include your photos or receipt contents. See Google’s ML Kit data disclosure.
4. Service providers and technical information
- Exchange rates: when an expense is in another currency, or you change your currency, the app downloads public exchange rates from ExchangeRate-API (open.er-api.com), at most about once a day. The request contains no expense data; like any web request it reveals your IP address and basic connection details to that provider.
- Google Firebase Analytics: app usage events (for example screens viewed, features used, ad and purchase events), app-instance identifiers, device and app information, and approximate region derived from IP address, to understand and improve the app.
- Google Firebase Crashlytics: crash reports and diagnostic logs, device and operating system details, and an installation identifier, to find and fix problems.
- Google Firebase Remote Config: an installation identifier and app/device details, to deliver app configuration.
- Google AdMob: described in section 5.
- Google Play and Apple App Store: described in section 6.
These providers process information under their own terms, including the Google Privacy Policy, How Google uses information from apps that use its services and Firebase privacy information. Expense amounts, notes, receipt text and photos are not sent to these providers by our app code.
5. Advertising
MoneyCap offers optional rewarded video ads, provided by Google AdMob, when your free captures run out. You choose whether to watch an ad; MoneyCap Plus removes ads. To serve and measure ads, AdMob may collect device identifiers (such as the Android Advertising ID or, with your permission, the iOS IDFA), IP address, device and app information, and ad interaction data.
Where required (for example in the EEA, the UK and Switzerland), the app shows a consent form from Google’s User Messaging Platform before ads are personalised. On iOS, the app asks for App Tracking Transparency permission; if you decline, the IDFA is not shared and ads may be less relevant. You can also reset or limit your advertising ID in your device settings. See how Google uses advertising data.
6. Purchases
MoneyCap Plus subscriptions are sold and billed by Google Play or the Apple App Store. Payment details are handled by the store; we never receive your card number or billing address. The app receives purchase and subscription status from the store (such as product, purchase token or transaction identifiers, and whether a subscription is active) and checks it on the device to unlock Plus. Purchase events may be recorded in Firebase Analytics.
7. Permissions and controls
- Camera: lets you photograph receipts and moments in the app.
- Photos: MoneyCap uses the system photo picker, so it only receives the photos you choose.
- Notifications and boot events: support an optional evening reminder (9 PM local time on days with no entries) and its rescheduling after a device restart. Reminders are scheduled on the device.
- Network access: used for exchange rates, ads, purchases, and the SDK communication described above, not to upload your diary.
- Tracking (iOS): optional; see section 5.
You can revoke permissions in your device settings. Declining a permission limits the corresponding feature. MoneyCap does not request location, contacts, microphone or SMS access.
8. Sharing
We do not sell your expenses, photos or receipt contents, and do not use them for advertising. Google, Apple, ExchangeRate-API and your device’s backup service may process information as described above and under their own policies.
If you email support, we receive your email address and whatever you choose to send, such as messages or screenshots. Do not send passwords, payment details or unnecessary personal information. We use support correspondence to respond and resolve issues. Information we hold may also be disclosed when legally required, to protect rights or security, or in a lawful business transfer.
Where required by applicable data protection law, processing is based on providing the features you request, your consent (for example for personalised ads or tracking), our legitimate interests in app reliability, improvement and support, or legal obligations, as applicable.
9. Retention, deletion and security
Expenses, photos and settings stay on your device until you delete them in the app or uninstall MoneyCap. Deleting an expense removes its stored photo copy; the original photo in your library is not affected. Uninstalling the app removes its local data. On Android, MoneyCap opts out of automatic app-data backup. On iOS, app data may be included in your iCloud or computer device backup according to your device settings.
Uninstalling does not cancel a subscription; manage it in Google Play or App Store settings. Information held by Google, Apple or other providers follows their retention practices; for example, Firebase Analytics data is retained for the period configured in our Firebase project. Support messages are kept only as long as needed for the request and applicable obligations.
Local data is kept in app-private storage protected by the operating system, and network traffic to providers uses encrypted connections (HTTPS). No storage or transmission method is completely secure, so protect your device with a screen lock.
10. Privacy rights and children
Depending on where you live (for example under the GDPR, UK GDPR or US state privacy laws such as the CCPA/CPRA), you may have rights to access, correct, delete, restrict or object to processing, request portability, withdraw consent, opt out of targeted advertising, or complain to a data protection authority. Contact us below; we may need to verify your request and can act only on information we control. Your on-device diary is under your control through the app and device settings. We do not sell personal information as defined by those laws for money; ad-related sharing is controlled by the consent and device options in section 5.
MoneyCap is not directed to children under 13 (or the minimum age in your country). We do not knowingly collect children’s personal information. Contact us if you believe a child has provided personal information so we can review it.
11. Changes and contact
We may update this policy when features or providers change. We will revise the date above and provide additional notice or ask for consent where required.
